CIMISS > Brenda Erot Lochok

Why does this matter to me?

Amelia was a newly enrolled pupil at Kalokol girls Primary school in Kenya when we first met in 1997. We later became friends, bonded strongly and we shared experiences. Her story inspired me a lot. Amelia, regardless of the past experiences, had to risk moving from Kakuma refugee camp to a remote harsh, insecure place just to quench her thirst for Education. I learned many life lessons through her. It’s true to say ‘Educating a woman is Educating the whole world.

Building on Amelia’s story, I commenced my journey towards the protection of children. I love children and I would like to see them achieve their dreams. I acquired a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, and primary teacher’s education, to help, nurture and mentor children at their tender age. I have worked for the Kenya Ministry of Education as a teacher since 2010. I am privileged to be part of the CIMISS project that I believe to be the future instrument of hope, restoration, peace, and enlightenment not only for the people of South Sudan but the entire world.
